These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Split Neat mobile application (the “App”) available on iOS and Android, operated by Mobapp Pixel SRL (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. About the App
Split Neat is an expense tracking and group organization app that helps users create groups, log shared expenses, and track balances. Split Neat does not process payments, hold funds, transfer money, or provide escrow services. Any settlement between users happens outside the App.
The App may also display advertisements and may offer paid subscription features.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the age required by local law) to use the App. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
3. Accounts
You may need an account to access certain features. You agree to:
- Provide accurate information,
- Keep your credentials secure,
- Accept responsibility for activity under your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are used unlawfully or in violation of these Terms.
4. User Content and Collaboration
4.1 Your Content
The App may allow you to create or upload content, including:
- Expense entries (amounts, descriptions, participants, categories),
- Groups and member lists,
- Notes and images (if supported).
You retain ownership of your content (“User Content”). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display User Content only as needed to operate and provide the App and its collaboration features.
4.2 Shared Groups
If you invite others into a group, you acknowledge:
- Group members may view group details and expenses depending on permissions and App functionality.
- You are responsible for who you invite and what you share.
- We are not responsible for disputes between group members.
4.3 Content Rules
You agree not to upload or share content that is illegal, infringing, abusive, harassing, or violates others’ privacy or rights.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where permitted by law,
- Interfere with the App’s security or normal operation,
- Access other users’ data without authorization,
- Use the App to violate any law or regulation,
- Abuse collaboration features (spam, harassment, impersonation).
6. Expense Tracking Disclaimer (No Payments / No Financial Advice)
Split Neat provides tools to track expenses and suggested balances based on the data entered by users.
- No payments: The App does not initiate or process payments.
- Accuracy: Balances and calculations depend on the information entered. You are responsible for verifying amounts, participants, and splits.
- No financial advice: The App does not provide financial, tax, or legal advice.
7. Subscriptions and Paid Features (Apple In-App Purchases)
Some features may require a paid subscription (“Subscription”). Subscriptions on iOS are handled through Apple’s In-App Purchase system.
7.1 Billing and Renewal
- Subscriptions may be offered on a monthly or yearly basis.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Unless you cancel, Subscriptions auto-renew for the same duration at the then-current price.
7.2 Managing and Cancelling
You can manage or cancel your Subscription in your device settings:
- iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions
Cancellation stops future renewals, but you will keep access until the end of the current billing period.
7.3 Free Trials (If Offered)
If a free trial is offered, Apple may convert it to a paid subscription automatically unless cancelled before the trial ends. Trial availability and rules are determined by Apple and may vary.
7.4 Price Changes
Apple may notify you of price increases and may require your consent where applicable. Pricing may vary by region and taxes.
7.5 Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies. We cannot issue refunds directly for Apple In-App Purchases. You can request a refund through Apple’s support channels.
7.6 Restore Purchases
If supported in the App, you can restore purchases (for example after reinstalling) using Apple’s restore mechanism.
8. Advertising
The App may show banner ads (for example via AdMob). We are not responsible for third-party ads or external sites linked from ads.
9. Third-Party Services
The App may use third-party services for functionality such as authentication, database/storage, analytics, messaging, and ads (for example Firebase, Google services, AdMob). These services may collect information under their own policies.
10. Privacy
Our data practices are described in the Split Neat Privacy Policy. By using the App, you acknowledge you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.
11. Availability and Updates
We aim to keep the App available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. The App may change over time (features may be added, modified, or removed). Some updates may be required to continue using the App.
12. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time.
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if your use creates risk or harm to users, third parties, or us.
13. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee the App will be secure, error-free, or uninterrupted.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mobapp Pixel SRL will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the App.
If liability cannot be excluded, our total liability will be limited to the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim (or €10 if you paid nothing), unless local law requires otherwise.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mobapp Pixel SRL from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated” date and may notify you in-app where appropriate. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
